The Automotive Components Alliance aims to combine lead firms with their supply chains. It pursues four strategies: larger firms bring smaller ones into a shared supply chain; members upgrade capabilities to meet automotive qualification; channels open access to international carmakers; and exports take several forms.

Modular supply cuts customers’ integration and multi-vendor coordination costs; joint design and manufacturing reduces tooling trials and rework and shortens later programs.
